Doctoral (PhD) Supervision)

Developing Researchers, Advancing Knowledge, Shaping the Future.

Doctoral supervision is a central component of my academic and research activities. My approach to PhD supervision is grounded in the principles developed through my HDR in Management, with an emphasis on rigorous research methodology, intellectual independence, continuous academic dialogue, and the progressive development of each doctoral researcher’s ability to formulate, conduct, and communicate original research.

 

Since 2016, I have supervised doctoral research addressing a broad range of topics at the intersection of Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Management, Digitalization, Information Systems, Forecasting, and Strategic Management. My supervision has involved both individual and collaborative doctoral projects, as well as projects supported by research grants, international funding, industry partnerships, and co-tutelle arrangements.

My supervision philosophy combines structured guidance with progressive autonomy. At the initial stage of a PhD, I provide close support in defining the research question, developing the conceptual framework, reviewing the literature, and selecting appropriate research methodologies. As the project progresses, I encourage doctoral candidates to develop increasing independence in research design, data analysis, scientific writing, publication, and academic communication. Particular attention is given to the originality, methodological rigor, managerial relevance, and potential scientific contribution of the research.

A recurring theme in my doctoral supervision has been the study of decentralized supply chains and coordination mechanisms, including information asymmetry, demand forecasting, lot-sizing, vehicle routing, supplier management, and digital coordination. More recently, my doctoral research supervision has expanded toward digitalization, artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, digital leadership, resilience, and intelligent supply-chain management, reflecting the transformation of organizations and supply chains in the digital economy.

To date, I have supervised or co-supervised 15 doctoral researchers, including nine successfully defended PhD theses and four doctoral projects currently in progress. These projects have been conducted at Normandy University and CNAM, with international collaborations involving institutions and partners in France and abroad.

Research Areas Emerging from Doctoral Supervision

Taken together, these doctoral projects form a coherent and evolving research program covering decentralized supply-chain coordination, information asymmetry, operations optimization, forecasting, logistics, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, blockchain, supply-chain resilience, business ecosystems, and digital management. They also reflect a broader research objective: understanding how organizations can use advanced analytical and digital technologies to coordinate complex systems, make better decisions, and build more resilient and sustainable supply chains.

My objective as a doctoral supervisor is ultimately to help each PhD researcher develop into an independent scholar capable of producing original, rigorous, and impactful research, while establishing meaningful connections between academic knowledge and the challenges faced by organizations and society.
